December 2015: Rogue Trader who defrauds elderly persons.
An extract from our officers briefing page that would be useful to send out to your distribution. Another travelling criminal to be on the lookout for. Anyone who sees this van or male who is of large build with short dark hair should report sightings to the 101 system or call Crime Stoppers for an intelligence submission as we need to know where this male is operating/travelling. We and Trading Standards need to know where and when the male/vehicle is seen, occupants of the vehicle and any other details that may assist in building a picture of this males movements.
Tony SMITH – 39 yrs.’ of age was arrested in Dawlish on 24/11/15 after being wanted for Fraud and Money Laundering Offences, whereby he befriends elderly persons and introduces them to a builder who advises on works that are required, being paid for but not undertaking/completing. It is believed this year alone he has accessed £100, 000, 00. He has since been bailed and indications are he resides in Devon. He is currently using a Red Citroen Berlingo Van Reg No GYN 11 BLN which is registered and insured to him.
