Roadworks

Announcements of upcoming planned roadworks will be posted here as received.

LATEST UPDATE (18 JULY 2017): A30 – Cardinham Downs overbridge is now open to traffic.

Bizarrely, we have no roadworks alerts at the moment –  all we have is news on the opening in July 2017 of the A30 dualled carriageway…

A30 – Temple to Higher Carblake Road Improvement

Special Edition – Road Opening Ceremony 14th July 2017

Well the momentous day finally arrived and at 11.15am on Friday 14th July 2017 the A30 Temple to Higher Carblake Improvement Scheme was officially opened. For those who may not have used it yet we now have two lanes running in each direction throughout the works area. No more will anyone have to suffer the long delays experienced before we had the roadworks and of course whilst the works were ongoing. From the moment it opened at 6.00am (photo attached) there shouldn’t be a holdup now and for the foreseeable future.

The opening ceremony was performed by Cllr Geoff Brown, Portfolio Holder for Transport at Cornwall Council on the Preeze Cross Bridge in front of a small number of invited guests plus local media.  Following the speech by Cllr Brown a number of senior delegates responded – on behalf of Highways England, Kier and a member of the Dual the A30 Action Group (photo attached).  The ceremony was followed by a press call with delegates overlooking the new dual carriageway.

Following the photo opportunity at Preeze Cross delegates attended Blisland Village Hall for a Community Event organised by Cornwall Council. The leader of Cornwall Council welcomed guests representing local parish councils; committee members of the A30 Action Group; and representatives from the Cornwall business community. Further speeches were then given by council executives and delegates. Also present were members of the emergency services and media for both television and radio. There followed an official cake cutting ceremony carried out jointly by Cllr Geoff Brown and Henry Kendall of the A30 Action Group (photo attached); the ceremony highlighted the joint collaboration between Cornwall Council and the A30 Action Group.

Please note that following the opening there will still be works to be completed in and around the site area and of course completion of the final bridge at Temple Tor which should be open by the end of July. Although open there is still plenty of landscaping programmed to complete the verges and embankments to ensure the road blends in with the moorland.

Details of future works will be available on our Kier website www.kier-a30cornwall.co.uk when available or emailed direct to our contacts.  Please contact the answerphone line on 07779 439 637 if you have a query or comment.
