A fond farewell – WI’s final meeting, 4 March 2014

Fifty-six years of the Warleggan and Cardynham Women’s Institute has regrettably come to an end.

Due to dwindling numbers, we have decided to close.

Our final meeting, on the afternoon of Tuesday 4th March, was a joyous occasion with cake to share and flowers for each member.

We would like to remember past members, including our founder member Mrs Betty Courts and our first president Lady Newboult.

We still had three founder members: Mrs Barbara Keast, Mrs June Tucker and Mrs Mary Tucker.

Many thanks go to all our members, who over the years have made it possible for our WI to continue for as long as it did, including Mrs Mavis Ball who was our current President, Mrs Brenda Jory our Secretary for over 20 years, and Mrs Judy Pollard, who was our Treasurer.

A fond farewell and thank you to all Members.

What a sad day. You have all done so much over so many years. I hope that perhaps you could join another branch or you will all be honoured in some way.
